Discipleship Through Dance

In 1994, Kathy opened Walton School of Dance with the goal of offering a unique approach to quality dance training. While other schools seemed to focus on the body only, Kathy felt strongly that it was important to train the whole child...mind, body, and soul. With a staff of teachers who have a strong background in dance, who love children, who exemplify the Christian values that are the cornerstone of the school and who, for the most part, have all been students of "Miss" Kathy themselves, The school has come to enjoy the reputation of turning out well-trained, well-rounded, happy and accomplished dancers.

Kathy, having gone on to dance with regional and professional dance companies, received the Ford Foundation Scholarship and some students have been awarded the Governor's Honor Award, received scholarships for summer study at prestigious schools in the United States, and started dance ministries within their own churches. Many often return to En Pointe to dance with Kathy's Christian Dance Company, Praise in Motion and to teach on her staff. In 1994, Kathy purchased "Walton School of Dance" from a long-time friend. In 2007, in additional to moving locations, the shool changed names to Discipleship Through Dance, an outreach ministry of Praise In Motion, a non-profit dance company. Now her same standard of quality training is available in Monroe, GA at Discipleship Through Dance.
