When a child has mastered the basic foundation of ballet steps taught at the elementary levels and has shown both the physical and emotional maturity to deal with very technical demands, she will be promoted to the intermediate level. There are a number of level divisions in the intermediate category in order to place students based on their mastery of skills, their strength and flexibility, and their ability to translate information and corrections from a mental understanding to a physical response. It is at this level that the staff is interested in knowing each student's goals for dance. Those that are following a path of serious training that will lead to membership in a dance company, in Praise in Motion's Dance Ministry, dance scholarships for college, or participation in professional and semi professional programs, will be directed toward more intense training. At some point this would include more than one class per week. Those that prefer to dance for enjoyment and achieving less ambitious goals will be directed in a way that will not cause them to feel any pressure about their choices in their dance direction.
